ACTIVATING LITTLE CORNERS OF HESSEN

A series of demographic and economic developments have increased the disparity between the conurbations in the Rhine-Main region in the south and the rural north. On a local level, these cross-regional trends can be clearly seen on a small scale: vacant and high-demand properties can often be found in close proximity across the whole state. The study “Suboptimally used? Activating little corners of Hessen” examines areas excluded from the current cycle of use and their possible new uses. The potential these “suboptimally used” areas hold for the city are clarified and alternative development concepts are presented.
